Grandma's House is proud to announce our Deschutes County 2010 Volunteer of the Year nominees:
Elizabeth Segrist and Erin Coleman-Hicks
Elizabeth and Erin have generously shared their time on a weekly basis by volunteering as house mom and in addition Erin has spent many overnights as our Night Supervisor Respite Volunteer. Elizabeth and Erin have played a critical role in supporting the young mothers at anytime that they need help, support and validation the most; which is all the time. Elizabeth and Erin are caregivers in the finest sense...they will help the girls put together delicious meals, console a broken heart, and help a young mom with a sick or cranky baby, and often all in the same evening. The depth of Elizabeth and Erin's compassion for this high risk population is admirable.They celebrate their accomplishments, encourage them through disappointments and extend this wonderful part of themselves to the staff as well, becoming cherished friends. Elizabeth and Erin are a loving, dedicated, and committed part of our Grandma's House team. In addition, Elizabeth is active in her church and outreach and Erin leads a children's grief group at Partners in Care Hospice; both are very active volunteers in our community!
Words from our residents: "Elizabeth and Erin are two of our favorite volunteers.It's hard to point out all of the things they do for Grandma's House or us girls. Truly, they warm our hearts with homemade goodies or really funny stories and jokes. They always offer a helping hand, no one asks them to, and no one expects them to or even tells them to. Their kindness makes them so appreciated and loved. We feel that people can tell that they are genuinely kind and loving towards all of the girls and other volunteers and staff."
It is with love and respect we nominated Elizabeth Segrist and Erin Coleman-Hicks for 2010 Volunteer of the Year - We are very blessed to have them both with us at Grandma's House.
